Kayla Itsines spoke about her recent personal struggles after the devastating loss of her mother-in-law.

Kayla, 32, has shared a candid look at the emotional torment she experienced following the tragic death of her mother-in-law, Jay Woodruff, Jenny.

Sharing a video on Instagram on Saturday, Kayla explained her absence from social media and low motivation while discussing her battle with grief.

The fitness influencer explained how it was a “really difficult” time for her and Jay, and told how it was the first time she had lost someone close to her.

“I went for a walk today, I worked out today, I ate well and I realized that this was the first day in a really long time that I actually did all the stuff because I had no motivation to do it,” she said. Literally anything because I’ve been so sad since losing my mother-in-law.

“And I’m sad for me. I’m sad for Jay.” I’m just sad and it’s been so hard because I’ve never lost anyone before and it’s taken a toll on my body and the fact that I don’t want to do anything because I feel like everything is meaningless.

Despite her sadness, Kayla continued to explain how exercise helped her cope with her sadness during this difficult time.

Reflecting on the moment of decision, she recounted: “I was sitting on the sofa before and I said to myself: ‘Get up, do something. If you don’t do something now, you will never do anything because you are so sad and exercise will make you feel better.’”

Motivated by this realization, Kayla reopened her fitness app and chose a workout that reignited her passion for fitness — Week 5 of high-intensity strength training.

Don’t ask me why week five. “I knew I loved this week because I’ve done this program so many times and it gets my whole mind right again,” she added.

Kayla, 32, has shared a candid look at the emotional torment she experienced following the tragic death of her mother-in-law, Jay Woodruff, Jenny.

In February, Kayla confirmed in an Instagram post that Jay’s mother Jenny had tragically lost her battle with cancer.

At the time, she shared a collection of precious photos along with some touching words while sharing the sad news.

‘Rest in peace my beautiful, perfect mother-in-law. I’ve spent my whole life without an idol…and then I met you. I have never wanted to learn so much from someone so quickly in my life.

‘We all love you so much. You absolute angel, you rock, you perfect human being. Forever our angel.

Jay also broke hearts when he paid tribute to his beloved mother on his Instagram page at the time.

The fitness influencer explained how it’s been a “really tough” time for her and Jay, whom she married in December

‘I’ve always been afraid of two things in life. It started with losing my mother and death in general.

“Thinking about those two things would send me into a downward spiral. I hated it… so what did I do?” I ignored that.

‘After my father died when I was younger, I chose from that day to stay away from death…no funerals, no talking about it…nothing.

“After last week, I can confidently say that I’m not afraid anymore. I can say with certainty that I truly witnessed something so magical, so out of this world… you had to be there to believe it.”

Elsewhere, Kayla recently moved to the Gold Coast with husband Jay – with whom she has son Jax. She also has a daughter Arna with ex-fiancé Toby Pearce

“As I lay with my sister, on either side of my mother, we watched her peacefully take her last breaths. I watched the lights begin to flicker in the room, the curtains open, and I truly felt that my father, grandmother, and grandfather had gently taken her away. I had never felt so sad before, and yet I feel so peaceful and happy with this perfect moment.

“My mother was my best friend, the most attractive woman, my everything, and she meant everything to me. Words can’t even begin to describe how empty my heart feels in one sense, and yet so full of something else – a true belief that my mother is out there somewhere.” Beautiful…it means everything to me.

‘I love you, mom, my angel. He concluded by saying: I know that you are always with me.
