This is about to change.
Now, the newly launched Chabad of the Canadian Rockies is preparing to open a 30-foot, $200,000 state-of-the-art mobile commercial kitchen, opening up Banff to the world of kosher tourism.
Leaders of Chabad of the Rockies, Rabbi Dovid And Devorah Benson I moved to Banff to manage the kitchen. They will also put their experience in Jewish community activism to work to enrich the lives of the local Jewish community through holiday celebrations, Shabbat dinners, and family events.
The project reflects the vision of grieving parents and the dedication of a man who received a new lease on life thanks to a kidney donation. when Yehuda (Eugene) W Ilana WiigHis 20-year-old son Daniel He died in tragic circumstances, they wanted to remember him and celebrate his life with a project that would enhance the life of the Jewish community. His close friend, Rabbi Dovid Benson, launched a campaign to find a donor for Moster. After several donors applied and were rejected, Rabbi Mindy Blachman, Chabad’s representative in Edmonton, Alberta, was a perfect fit. “They couldn’t be better if they were brothers,” said the doctor.
Moster’s new lease on life inspired him to act influentially. He participated in the campaign, bringing funding for the project from a number of sources.
Now, Jewish travelers to the Canadian Rockies won’t have to look far for kosher, and Benson says the bar mitzvah destination is already booked for next July.
