More prospects to come; Don't forget Omid Rosario! Terry Pluto's Guardians scribble

Cleveland, Ohio – Doodles in my Guardians notebook, including objects from the palace:

1. Since coming to Cleveland for the Francisco Lindor deal, Amed Rosario has become one of my favorite players. He won me over in the late spring of 2021 when he was asked to play on the court – leaving his familiar short spot. He ended up playing it mostly, but his attitude is commendable. This is his bustle. With his friend Jose Ramirez, Rosario works hard at everything and plays the game in the right spirit.

2. A year ago, Rosario started slow and caught fire in the middle of May. After May 11, 2021, it was a hitter of 0.300. He finished a .282 hit (.730 OPS) with an 11-hour, 57 RBI and was 13 of 13 in steals bases. This season, it was cool with the weather. I picked the same May 11 date, only in 2022. Since then, he’s hitting .301. Overall, it goes to .270 (.660 OPS) with Homer and 16 RBI. It’s 7 out of 8 in stolen bases.

3. Rosario is a player that Guardians can trade. He is only 26 years old. Andres Jimenez is the man of the future short. Defensively, Jimenez is the superior player. But Rosario has been strong this season in a nutshell, just two mistakes in 47 games. Analytics website Fangraves ranked him sixth out of 12 starting points for the MLS in defense.

4. Replace Cleveland Lindor and Carlos Carrasco for Rosario and Jimenez before the 2021 season. Last year was a nightmare for Carrasco (1-5, 6.04 ERA and he was struggling with injuries). He is 7-2 with a 3.93 ERA. A good man having a good year.

5. As for Lindor, his general stats are good. It hits .243 (.739 OPS) with 10 queues and 49 RBI. Recently, he was bogged up driving in four runs on a Friday night. It hit .282 in April. Since then, it is a hitter of 0.220. Since he traded with the Mets, he’s been hitting .234 (.730 OPS). He fought .258 (.750 OPS) in 2020, his last season in Cleveland. He hasn’t been the same All Star caliber player for three years. He has nine years and $300 million left on his contract.

Andres Gimenez was fantastic on the board and on the field in 2022.

6. Then there’s 23-year-old Jimenez, who looks like a young Lindor. It hits the .309 (.865 OPS) with seven homers and 31 RBI. Coach Terry Francona said Jimenez just needed to stop trying to pull the ball like Ramirez. Once Gimenez did that, he boomed. Francona also said Jimenez is one of the few players he’s ever seen who plays second base and short base at a very high level. He’s a budding star and he’s a great deal for Cleveland – given the players’ ages and signings.

7. The main reason Rosario did not play on the field more is that Stephen Cowan claimed to be the left of the field. Patrol Center Miles Straw and for now, Oscar Gonzalez is right. The Guardians also love Ritchie Palacios on the court.

8. Now, the potential part. Will Brennan is the current version of Kwan, a defensive player who caught the team’s attention in the minors a year ago. The 24-year-old left batting player hits .327 (.896 OPS) between AA and AAA grades this season. He has five hurdles and 57 RBI in 56 games. Like Cowan, Brennan was a college player when he was drafted (KS). He doesn’t hit much (32 times in 247 games).

Naylor brothers

Josh Naylor, right, gives his younger brother, Bo Nallor a hard time as the two answer questions Saturday from reporters via Zoom at the Indians training facility in Goodyear, Arizona.

9. Fans have been hearing about George Valera for several years. He is only 21 years old and has run into some zebras in Class AA Akron. Overall, it hit .292 (.911 OPS) with 11 hours. Since May 1, he has lost 34 times in 37 games. The soft hitter could be a fast bat at Cleveland 2023 Stadium.

10. THE FANS ALSO WANT THE RANGERS TO TRADE A Catch. I doubt this will happen, at least in the long run. In Class AA Akron, Bo (Josh’s brother) Naylor scored .276 (.913 OPS) with six Homer and 21 RBI. He was 22 and was a Cleveland first-round pick in 2018. Naylor only fought 188 at Akron in 2021, and now he’s figuring it out. It is also a good defensive mask.

11. When you look at the stats for Naylor, Valera, and everyone else from the Class AA Eastern League, keep in mind that 10 of the 12 teams in that league hit 0.237 or less. If you do well in the Eastern League in your early twenties, you’ll likely make it to the majors and have some success.

12. Consider these names: Owen Miller, Cal Quantrell, Josh Naylor, Austin Hedges, Gabriel Arias. All of these players came to Cleveland from San Diego in the Mike Clevenger deal. But there is another one! It’s Joey Cantello, a 22-year-old with a 3-3 record and 2.25 ERA in Class AA Akron. He hit 71 in 48 rounds!

13. As for Clevenger, he has made just 19 runs (3.79 ERA) for Padres this season. He missed the whole of 2021 with Tommy John’s elbow surgery. This season, he’s been struggling with knee and triceps issues. He just got off the disabled list.
