Today, Wednesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, received a phone call from his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani, which addressed the current situation in the Sahel region.
A statement from the ministry stated that Attaf informed his Italian counterpart of the encouraging reactions that the initiative of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for a political settlement of the crisis in Niger is still receiving.
For his part, the Italian Minister renewed his country’s support for finding a political solution to this crisis, stressing in particular his support for the idea of organizing an international symposium on development in the Sahel region.
The deteriorating situation in Mali was also at the heart of the two ministers’ talks, as their views coincided on the necessity of a rapid return to the implementation of the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali that emerged from the Algerian path.
Finally, the acceleration of illegal immigration in the Mediterranean caught the attention of the two ministers, who exchanged opinions and analyzes on this issue.
