How to make apple pie at Anna Banana Bakery in Manahawkin
Jessica Errico, owner of Anna Banana Bakery in Manahawkin, shares the secret to her apple crumb pie.

Find them at Cavé Bistro, 515 Sylvania Ave., in Avon-by-the-Sea, a 100% gluten-free, farm-to-table restaurant that uses primarily organic produce and grass-fed and pasture-raised meats. Game and poultry from Silver Fern Farms in New Zealand — and fish, shrimp and more from Local 130 Seafood in Asbury Park.

Of course, the restaurant is not the only restaurant serving food on the beach for those with dietary restrictions. Many restaurants, ice cream shops and bakeries offer gluten-free dishes. From double chocolate cakes to pizza to buffalo wings, there are plenty of options.

Anna’s Banana Bakery, Manahawkin
This bakery has a plethora of gluten-free options from cupcakes, birthday cakes, and custom pies to cheesecake with an almond crust and French macarons. These pig nut cookies are gluten-free, plus a swirl cupcake flavor (this week it’s a mint chocolate chip).
Also try their gluten-free biscuit sandwiches.

Clock U, Manasquan
This Cluck U location only has a fryer designated for gluten-free foods, which prevents cross-contamination. Most chicken, wings, empanadas and wraps can be made gluten-free, including the ranchero wrap with chicken, lettuce, bacon and ranch dressing; Or a balsamic chicken wrap with chicken, lettuce, roasted red peppers, and balsamic sauce.

It’s rare for a pizzeria to have a full menu of gluten-free options. Here, you can order anything from salads and appetizers; Pasta such as grilled chicken or shrimp bruschetta with fresh tomato basil, pan sauce and fresh mozzarella; And the pizza is like veggies with mushrooms, jalapenos, red peppers, pineapple, scallions, red onions, portobello, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, kalamata, presto, broccoli, artichoke hearts and caramelized onions.

Most of the ice cream available at Cookman Creamery is gluten-free, but they also have vegan options made using dairy alternatives like organic coconut cream, almond butter, cashew butter, peanut butter, or oat milk. Try flavors like Almond Butter-Based Salted Chocolate, or Coconut Cream-Based Organic Strawberry. The Creamery will also be offering homemade gluten-free vegan waffle cones.
Many of the cakes available, including carrot cake, are also gluten-free.

Good Karma Cafe, Red Bank
This vegetarian restaurant has plenty of gluten-free options, including a gado gado salad with romaine lettuce, cabbage, and carrots, topped with smoked tofu slices, a sesame seed mix, and toasted peanuts, with a cilantro-peanut dressing.
Want something a little more filling? Try the kimchi bowl with brown rice, black beans, and baked tofu slices, topped with fresh arugula, pickled daikon, carrots, cucumber, and house-made kimchi, and drizzled with Sriracha hot sauce.

This vegan and gluten-free bakery offers a plethora of options. Try desserts like blueberry-lemon muffins or double chocolate muffins, or savory dishes like homemade soup and eggplant parmigiana.
Papa Ganache also makes whole cakes, such as a black-and-white vanilla cake with chocolate frosting inside and out, or a carrot cake filled with cream cheese or vanilla frosting.

Mensa, Long Beach
This Mexican restaurant prides itself on being the only 100% gluten-free restaurant on Long Beach Island. The menu is your oysters. Try tacos like The Birdie, with braised chicken, Brussels sprouts and chipotle crema, or The Hippie, with roasted cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, raw shredded carrots and chimichurri.
The restaurant also serves dishes of braised chicken, short rib, pork, or grilled vegetables with rice, beans, and a choice of sides; And also sandwiches. Try the Lotta Beef Inside Sandwich, with braised short rib, slices of pig’s head around a London roast, and glazed onions on an Italian baguette, served with homemade cornflakes.
