In the same context, university scholars confirmed, today, Wednesday, that Algeria’s foreign policy during the rule of the late President Houari Boumediene (1932-1978) was “stemming from the political intellectual certainty” established by the National Liberation Revolution.

Mohamed Khoja, from the University of Algiers 3, said: “Algeria’s diplomatic positions during Boumediene’s rule “stem from Algeria’s political intellectual certainty and its strategic culture established by the Algerian revolution, and then its pioneering role in supporting liberation movements, which strengthened respect for the Algerian state.”

Khoja considered that the positions of the late president on the political, economic and diplomatic levels “are linked to this personality’s convictions about the existence of an ancient legacy steeped in the history of the Algerian state, which was always a state of confrontation and resistance, which made it stand alongside the liberation movements and support them.”

He added, in this context, that his foreign policy was “complementary to domestic policy and an extension of it, which was represented by sovereign decisions, the first of which was to strengthen the internal economy and plan for qualitative development, and the second to extend sovereignty by controlling, above all, its natural resources, and this by nationalizing hydrocarbons and mines and cutting ties with… Everything related to the French colonialists.”

The political science professor pointed out that the late president “understood the true role of Algeria as a pivotal country,” which “was evident during his term when many crises were resolved peacefully.”

For his part, Mohamed Hammadouche from the University of Algiers 3 reviewed the “constant and variable” in President Boumediene’s foreign policy, through his sayings and positions that “translate his vision on the concept of Algerian national security,” noting “his certainty that the Arab Maghreb and the region separating Cairo and Dakar is a region It is safe for Algeria, and that no change can occur in this region without an agreement with Algeria.”

He added that the late “set the principles of Algerian national security and clearly defined them, which were to control borders with neighboring countries according to the rule of borders inherited from colonialism, support the economic liberalization effort, achieve development and cooperation with developing countries, adherence to neutrality and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries, and support and assistance.” Liberation and decolonization movements, and resolving disputes between countries by peaceful means.”

Today, Wednesday, the state of Guelma commemorated the 45th anniversary of the death of President Houari Boumediene (1932-1978) by visiting his family home in the municipality of Majaz Ammar and the primary school where he received his first education in the state capital.

In commemoration of the passing of the second president of independent Algeria on this day in 1978, the governor of Guelma, Houria Akoun, traveled with the civil and military state authorities and the revolutionary family to the Arara area in the Beni Adi roundabout of the municipality of Majaz Amar, which is about 12 km west of the state capital, where the house is located. The family in which Houari Boumediene was born on August 23, 1932.

Participants in the commemoration stood under the roof of the modest house, which consisted of two rooms built of stones covered by a tiled roof, amidst mountainous terrain, where the late president was born. It is a house that underwent a comprehensive restoration process in 2016 and witnesses a great demand for visitors from various parts of the country.

After raising the national flag, playing the national anthem, and reciting the opening of the book for the souls of the righteous martyrs in the square of the historic landmark completed next to the family home of Houari Boumediene, the participants in commemorating the anniversary recalled the heroic qualities and values ​​of commitment, loyalty, sacrifice, redemption, and sincere patriotism that the deceased displayed in his struggle for independence, as well as During the construction phase of independent Algeria until his death.

The state delegation also moved to the Mohamed Abdou Middle School in the municipality of Guelma, which at the time of colonialism was a primary school called “Alumbere,” to visit the section in which the late president taught. The participants also viewed the administrative record of the names of the students studying in that period, including Mohamed Boukhrouba, which is the name. The real President Boumediene.

In the same educational institution, the governor supervised the inauguration of the portrait bearing the image of President Houari Boumediene, accompanied by a historical overview of his life to introduce it to students and visitors.

On this occasion, the state authorities also supervised the laying of the foundation stone for a project to build 40 public rental housing in the municipality of Houari Boumediene, before moving to the multi-sports hall in the same municipality, which hosted a symbolic program to commemorate the anniversary, which included showing a videotape and giving a lecture while honoring some of the mujahideen and members of the late president’s family.
